Anti-spam measures

* Potential spammer status for users
--- Cannot set website field or use URLs in signature, and/or use URLs in posts
--- Auto unset spam status on number of posts or manually
* Mass clean up existing profile spam accounts using member pruning
* Stop Forum Spam API for registrations/more

Various

Fixing bugs and security issues, and small improvements.

* Persistent database connections
* Incorporate detailed RSS feed views in online list
* Use mail.php for Contact Admin feature, or supply custom URL
* Search users by email address (ACP)
* More various changes listed in Changelog

Like what I see so far, mainly with anti-spam measures.

Like that also, not to discredit anything else, they are all good.

Liking the anti spam. I've only joined today, nor have I used this software yet (thought I'd register here first and have a look). Even though other forum softwares have good anti spam anyway, this software is nice and lightweight it seems, and it does appeal to me.

Is there an edit button on the posts? I can't see one on my previous one (hence the double post >_>)

EDIT: Oh there is, if I used the post reply button. If I used the quick reply box it doesn't show an editing option.

Editing posts is only possible within x minutes after posting (x = 15 on this forum).

Oh, I understand. Thanks. Great software btw.

Except for the limitations on website/signature fields or posting links, everything has been done for 1.0.13. The latest code in SVN is also running on this board, including the Stop Forum Spam API usage. At this moment, IP and email addresses are being checked, and new spammers are submitted to the database.

Also, for the anti-spam features I added a small document to the source package (latest version is here).

A release date is not known yet. I will see when I can add the last item on the TODO list.

Sounds and looks good.

Sounds and looks good.

It sure does. I can't wait for this version to be released.

1.0.13 should be done. If anyone dares to test, you can download a .zip here.

A release will follow later this week or next week.

Haven't uploaded yet, is there any changes to config.php and database?

See settings get added to config.php file. Take it that db is unchanged.

Database is the same, except that the value for active in the members table can now also be '2'.

Not sure how to change it, phpMyAdmin screenshot. Is it important to change now or at a later date.

In the database nothing should be changed. The only problem could be with some third party mods that use the value as an integer instead of as a boolean. I will make a note about this in the release announcement.

Good it doesn't need changing.

So far, no errors, for testing purposes and live forum.

A release will follow later this week or next week

Out of curiosity, will there be a "changed files" only package?

Thanks.

Yes, as there has always been.

After running 1.0.13 on this forum for some time, some more bugs popped up and were fixed.

If everything's well I will release UseBB 1.0.13 next week.

Problem with the "Use mail.php for Contact Admin feature"

If I tick "Use mail form instead of email link for contact admin" and click on "Contact Admin", I'm redirected to a 404 page (http://mydomail.com/mail-admin.html not found).

Using my FTP client, I couldn't locate the mail-admin.html template.

Thanks,
Gene

Thanks for the quick fix, works great!

Cheers,
Gene

If everything's well I will release UseBB 1.0.13 next week

How's everything coming along?

Cheers!

I will release it later today.

Dietrich

I will release it later today.

Great! Looking forward to it.

:D

I'm liking 1.0.13. Good work.
